I'm Yurii Kolochkov, an independent backend engineer. I build server-side systems in Go/Golang and the distributed architecture around them.
What I do
- Backend services in Go/Golang — designing them, building them, and rewriting the parts that have stopped holding.
- Distributed systems: service boundaries, gRPC, load balancing, messaging, and the failure modes that come with them.
- Cloud architecture on GCP — storage, deployment, and the cost and reliability trade-offs behind each choice.
- Diagnosis of systems already in production: profiling, tracing, and finding where latency actually comes from.
Writing
Now and then I write articles about whatever I happen to be digging into.
